Damp after the storm

The recent weather conditions have brought to light ten construction details that can pose a challenge in dealing with wind-driven rain.

Traditional stepped running flashings – once the rain has been driven just a few millimetres under the running flashing leading edge, it permeates part of the building that should be kept dry.

Bay windows – sideways soak because there is no tray protection linking the bay lintel support level with the higher roof DPC intersection level.

Extensions – absence of tray at roof intersection level.

Window and door openings – inadequate and incorrect protection integration

To address these issues, Cavity Trays Ltd specialises in providing solutions for construction problems, both for new and remedial works.

As the UK’s longest-established cavity tray DPC company, Cavity Trays Ltd is the only manufacturer of cavity trays awarded European Technical Approval. We offer the broadest range of trays to meet NHBC and LABC requirements.
